Golf Warm Up Exercises : Calf Stretches
One of the golf warm up exercises are the calf stretches do them before you use your lady golf clubsor other golf equipment. You may not think of golf as a sport that would require you to warm up, but it is very important. It may not be as strenuous as tennis or running, but you put a lot of stress on your body when you swing and use motions that you do not otherwise use every day.
To apply one of the two exercises I provide here to stretch out your calves, start with your feet together then take a big step forward with your left foot.
Then bend your left leg but keep your right leg out behind you straight.
Now try to put your right heel back on the ground. As you do this you will feel the stretch in the back of your calf. Hold for ten seconds, then switch. Stop immediately and relax when it's going to hurt too much! The only thing that counts is that you loosen your muscles.
Golf Warm Up ExercisesAn alternative: if you have a step handy and something to hold onto, you can use that to really stretch your calves. Make sure to hold on securely to a handrail or post as you do this. A helpful tool can be a wall - the wall of the clubhouse for example.
Stand with your feet together on one step with the back half of your feet hanging over the edge.
Now slowly lower yourself down and you will feel a great stretch in the back of your calves.
Be careful not to slide off the step and fall however!
